Engineering and infrastructure develoment are essential to ensure South Africa's growth in decades to come. As a leading fabricator in the region, Tegmul takes seriously it's responsiblity to develop skills in this critical area, and has taken steps to be at the forefront of embracing change with regard to BEE. Tegmul is committed to educate communities, invest in skills for the previously disadvantaged communities and assist aspiring disadvantaged entrepreneurs with business development.
Tegmul acknowledges that the sustainability of black economic empowerment (BEE) depends on the broader participation of black people in the formal economy.
Tegmul believes that BEE initiatives should address the discrimination and imbalances of the past, improve the lives of a wide range of historically disadvantaged people and bring long-term economic benefits to the country. We have empowerment initiates in place for skills and management development, advancement of historically disadvantaged people in the workplace, procurement practices which favour developing businesses and suppliers and equity ownership in the Company.
The Company purchases a substantial proportion of its requirements from black empowered organisations and is developing purchasing relationships with organisations owned or partially managed by historically disadvantaged individuals.
Skills development is key to the organisation as a whole. Several training initiatives, from technical training to management development initiatives, are conducted on an annual basis and development of future talent for the organisation is a stated objective.

Tegmul applies a policy of non-discriminatory recruitment. Wheverever possible we employ residents from local communities.
Employment practices are aligned to the Labour Relations Act and the Employment Equity Act. Where possible positions are filled with previously disadvantaged applicants and internal training programmes are utilised to increase the suitability of applicants.
Tegmul ensures continued compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (No 85 of 1993) in South Africa.
Energy is consumed and managed to ensure the most effective use of all energy sources and all safety practices as stipulated by acts, regulations and local authority guidelines. All manufacturing operations adhere to the laid down emissions, effluent and waste disposal requirements.
